Facilitators co-lead our Stepping Stones Grief Support Programs. They create safe & fun environments for children & teens to feel comfortable to connect, share & grow with others. All sessions are curriculum-based & age developmentally appropriate. Bridges provides facilitators with the needed training, curriculum, supplies & snacks for all activities. A professional background or training in counseling, social work, or grief support is required to be a lead facilitator. Spaces are limited.
Camp Buddies are individuals who love working with children & are passionate about supporting a child through challenging times. Camp Buddies help children navigate camp by attending workshops & providing emotional support by listening, modeling, and sharing as appropriate. Camp Buddies walk alongside their camper for an unforgettable weekend at the beach.
This is a new role created to support our Camp Buddy volunteers during camp. Each camper is paired with a Buddy for the entirety of camp. The Volunteer Care Team will be there to give the Buddies a time to rest and rejuvenate during the afternoon/evening on Saturday by taking over for the Camp Buddy and supporting the camper for a period of time.
Bus chaperones are the first volunteers some of the campers will meet on Saturday morning. Chaperones will arrive at 7:30am, sign all bus riders in, distribute name tags, collect any medications, and ensure the safety of all riders on the bus both to and from camp. After camp they will check-in all bus riders from camp and make sure their guardians pick them up in North Charleston.
Logistical volunteers help ensure events & programs run smoothly & without a hitch by assisting with the setup and breakdown of events, as well as, tasks related to registration and administration. While our logistical volunteers do not directly support the children & teens, their commitment & dedication is vital to ensure that our program is a success.
Volunteers will help the Bridges staff prep & pack materials for groups, stuff camper bags, and offer other support to the staff as needed. Bonus points to anyone who is willing to help pack the U-Haul on Thursday (3/11)!
