Most of us have been touched deeply by a caregiver – whether a health care professional or a family member taking care of a loved one. Caregivers play an indispensable daily role in helping seniors and people with chronic and advanced illness enjoy the highest possible quality of life. Unfortunately, most caregivers are reluctant care receivers. They give generously of their time, energy, and resources at the expense of their own health and well-being. So, to address and help prevent caregiver burnout, Bridges has partnered with the Mepkin Abbey Institute for Contemplative Eldering to offer a series of Care for the Caregivers Retreats. Retreats take place each year in February, June, and September and offer respite, reflection, rejuvenation, and encouragement to strengthen caregivers for their ongoing service to others.
